Which is more important: showing disapproval of s, or providing help for the needy?

I am not Catholic but I've worked in their volunteering programs: feeding, clothing and giving counsel to the poor. They never denied anyone. They never asked about, race, creed, cl etc. Everyone was treated the same, male, female or gays. I haven't read the article but I am sure, that there is more water than flour in what you are saying. If they are being forced as you said then I give them all rights to do what they must do.
