My bird is obsessed with millet and wont learn to touch!!!!?

i was trying to teach my bird clicker training and to try to touch the stick but instead it would only do something if there was millet right in front of his face.I have a young lovebird that I just got from the pet store and I don't know if it has never had millet or if it just had it to much.I don't know what to do at this point can you help?
